Columbus, Indiana experiences all four seasons in full, which means every visit feels a little different—and always memorable.
Spring (March–May)
Spring brings fresh energy as flowers bloom along city streets. If you’re lucky your trip will coincide with the breathtaking blooms at Miller House and Garden and The LEX. Temperatures rise from the 40s into the 70s, and light rains keep everything lush. It’s a great season for bike rides on the People Trail or a guided architecture tour downtown.
Summer (June–August)
Warm and lively, with highs in the 80s and 90s. It can also be extremely humid at times, which makes it feel even hotter than the thermometer shows. Sunny days set the stage for festivals, concerts, and evenings downtown. A quick afternoon shower may roll through, but it often cools things off just in time for dinner outdoors
Autumn (September–November)
The Fall is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Days in the 60s and 70s pair perfectly with the fall festivals in Columbus, Hope and Edinburgh, and scenic drives to nearby Brown County, famous for brilliant leaf color. Even right in town, strolls through tree-lined neighborhoods and the 6th Street Arts Alley feel especially cozy.
Winter (December–February)
Winter is chilly but charming. Snow makes our modern architecture sparkle, while downtown lights and holiday events bring warmth. Galleries and cafés invite you to linger.
Whatever the season, Columbus offers something special to enjoy.
