The AT&T Switching Center unifies an older brick structure with a new mirrored-glass addition. Colorful vertical “organ pipe” stacks—actually functional HVAC vents—accent the west facade and have become an iconic local image. The building won an AIA Honor Award in 1980 for its playful, functional modernism.
