Cummins Midrange Engine Plant was carefully integrated into its wooded site by depressing the 13-acre structure into a clearing and placing parking on the roof. Office areas surround the manufacturing floor on three sides, while glass walls and courtyards bring light and views throughout. A landscaped courtyard sits at the heart of the facility. The plant was recognized as a prototype for flexible, environmentally conscious industrial design.
