Columbus City Hall once housed municipal government before later adaptations into offices and apartments. A 1986 renovation modernized the interior while preserving its late 19th-century character, continuing the legacy of Sparrel, who shaped much of Columbus’s civic architecture. Famed basketball legend, and COlumbus native, Chuck Taylor played basketball in this building as a teen when the building doubled as a gymnasium. The second story had eighteen-foot ceilings and room for over 200 spectators.
