Columbus residents are very proud of their local boy who has had such an impact in his sport.

He grew up on the north end of Columbus and continues to return to his new home just outside of Columbus. He returned to his old neighborhood several years back to donate and dedicate a race car-themed playground.

I think Tony is respected because people who’ve been around and close enough to see him on the inside know he’s an incredible person, a caring and amazing person. For people who don’t get to know that side of him, they might have a different impression. But he’s loved in the sport and universally respected throughout the sport for what a great person he is, for being the incredible driver he is, and for the commitment he has to racing.

Tony Stewart Foundation

A more quiet side of Tony – but nonetheless impactful – is as a philanthropist. He began his foundation in 2003 for the single purpose of helping organizations which serve the children, animals, and drivers he cares about. Through 2015, more than $6.5 million have been given to charities in 41 states.
