Blackwell Park

Located at the intersection of Westenedge Street and Parkside Drive, Blackwell Park offers 59 acres of developed park space on the grounds surrounding Parkside School. The park is home to the Richard J. Wigh Soccer Center, Freedom Field Playground, the Come Out & Play Summer Playground Program, and Columbus Parks and Recreation youth soccer.

Visitors will find more than 30 soccer fields, open green space, picnic tables and benches, two barbecue areas, three parking areas, a press box, two restroom facilities, and a first-come, first-served shelter house near the playground. The shelter house does not have electricity, holds up to 30 people, and is not available for rent.

The park also connects to the People Trails system, linking Parkside Drive at Westenedge Drive to IUPUC. Freedom Field Playground is open dawn to 11 p.m. during the summer and is closed during the school year Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
